Fun on the Fourth

When the kids were younger we would always go to Bartlesville for the 4th of July. We would gather with all the cousins and grandparents and swim, grill out, and spend the day on the lake. It was one of the kids' favorite holidays in Bartlesville. But over the past few years we haven't been able to go so we've adjusted. We've missed being with family, but still had fun with good friends here. This year we started out the 4th of July by talking to Lincoln via Skype. He was in Milan, nearing the end of his trip in Europe.

And of course, what's the 4th of July without swimming?

We wrapped up the day with food and friends and some pretty amazing fireworks.

Oliver is always happy wherever we go as long as he's got his ball to dribble. And in case you were wondering -- no, Oliver doesn't have on leggings. These are his knee pads, so he can crawl around to his heart's content and not scratch up his knees.

I'm curious, who thinks up these names for the fireworks?

Oliver wasn't too sure about things when the fireworks started. So we took him inside and he was happy to be watching from the kitchen window.

All worn out from a fun day:
