Yes, It’s Clear He Could Never Kill Anyone
A front-page story in today’s Oklahoman tells us that Dr. John Baxter Hamilton has filed a federal appeal to have his murder conviction overturned. You may recall that Hamilton, an Oklahoma City obstetrician and abortionist, was convicted of beating his wife over the head with a blunt object and strangling her to death on Valentine’s Day five years ago.
The Oklahoman reports that “there are those who wish to think the best of Hamilton, those who cannot believe he is a murderer. ‘I don’t think he could’ve done it,’ said Lynette Hyde, a Hamilton family friend. ‘He loved her so much.’” Hamilton’s attorney, Mack Martin, is quoted as saying, “I saw John Hamilton probably four to five days a week at the county jail. He is one of the mildest-mannered, kindest men I have ever met.”
