Ideas Have Consequences

The state’s largest newspaper reports today that Republican gubernatorial candidate Ernest Istook said yesterday “he would work to eliminate the state’s individual income tax and would use an Oklahoma conservative public policy group to help decide where to cut state spending. … Istook, who is giving up his 5th Congressional District seat to run for governor, said he would use data compiled by the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs to help determine reductions in state spending.”

Now that’s what I like to hear. Sure, it’s gratifying to publish stuff, even if it ends up lining birdcages or gathering dust somewhere. But it’s even more gratifying when people take your ideas and run with them.
