47 Straight
OK, so the 22nd-ranked Sooners are struggling. Nevertheless, when they tee it up tomorrow against Iowa State, they will do so as the winningest college football program in modern times, with the most victories and the best winning percentage of any team in the post-World War II era. Emblematic of this success is the 47-game winning streak they put together from 1953 to 1957, an NCAA record that stands to this day (USC was getting uncomfortably close last year until Texas knocked them off).
But tomorrow also marks another "47 straight." When Lincoln and I head to Norman in the morning (D.V.), it will mark the 47th straight home game the boy has attended. His record is a respectable 44-2. I've been with him to all of the games except two. Man, have we had fun.
