Where Do I Sign Up to Enroll My 11-Year-Old Daughter?
Today's Oklahoman reports on a gleaming new $21 million high school (currently enrolling sixth- through ninth-graders, with 300 high-schoolers set to join the festivities in the fall) in a relatively affluent section of northwest Oklahoma City.
An Oklahoma City police officer was injured Feb. 21 while trying to stop a fight at the school. At least nine students were suspended and three arrested after the incident.
Earlier in the month, student Keenan Sharp was charged with first-degree arson in Oklahoma County District Court after being arrested on a complaint of setting a classmate's hair on fire. ...
During the first days the new John Marshall was open, Watson [a parent] volunteered daily at the school while her daughter was in class. Watson said students often disrupted classes and were disrespectful to teachers.
Her daughter told her about one student's screaming obscenities at a teacher during the middle of a lecture.
While volunteering, Watson once had to call a campus police officer to help bring order to a classroom.
