Moment of Truth
Aside from the little granny in Poteau who spends six hours a day on her knees in prayer, Norman attorney Marc Nuttle is the most influential Oklahoman you've never heard of.
"Marc Nuttle helped build the conservative movement that brought us Ronald Reagan," Dr. Coburn rightly says. He also masterminded Oklahoma's Right to Work campaign (Susie shot this commercial in Marc's kitchen) and has worked on the presidential campaigns of Ronald Reagan and Boris Yeltsin. Marc, shown below on a FOX News clip, has now written an important new book called Moment of Truth which I strongly recommend.
I went to a little luncheon and book signing today in which Marc made an interesting observation about the presidential race. Obama has the perfect storm brewing for him (economic uncertainty, Bush's unpopularity, a fawning press corps, etc.) and should be at least 10 points ahead right now, yet for some reason he is virtually deadlocked with McCain. This doesn't necessarily give us reason for optimism, but it should give us reason not to despair as we approach a moment of truth on November 4. Ora et labora.
After all, as the Bible says, "Who knows? God may turn and relent and turn from his fierce anger, so that we may not perish."
