Now the Government Does Both
Susie and I had a good time in Scottsdale earlier this month (we're pictured above, at left, watching some of my think-tank colleagues at their finest). One of our hosts, former Congressman Barry Goldwater, Jr., pictured below, had the most memorable line of the week. Lamenting the encroaching nannyism of governments at all levels, he recalled that his forefathers came to Arizona with a strong sense of independence and self-reliance. "They didn't expect the government to wipe their nose or raise their children."
