'My Soul Is Terrifying'

Someone has wisely observed that there are two types of people in politics: those who want to be somebody great, and those who want to do something great.

Obviously Gov. Scott Walker is the latter. And he provides a stark -- and depressing -- contrast to what we see from too many political leaders in Oklahoma. In my 17 years of being around politicians, I've seen it time and time again: so-called conservatives at 23rd and Lincoln inevitably "grow in office," as principle slowly gives way to what has been called "the politics of conventional ambition." Unlike Gov. Walker, these are people who need politics in order to be somebody great. And that's kinda terrifying.
