Living a Second Time

Watching "Donut Man" videos with Oliver until he fell asleep. After all these years, I still remembered a lot of the lyrics!

"It is no small gift of God for a man to be renewed in his posterity," John Calvin wrote, "for God then gives him new strength, that he who otherwise would straightway decay, may begin as it were to live a second time."

No small gift, indeed. I can't stress to you enough what a joy this lad is, and how surreal the whole thing seems sometimes. It's as if I've stepped into a time machine and traveled back two decades. Case in point: Today I sat with a cherubic Lincoln-lookalike and watched the same videos that I used to watch with towheaded little Lincoln. (One difference: back then we didn't watch them on smartphones).
