Happy Birthday, Lincoln!

Twenty-one years ago today at 6:39 a.m. Lincoln was born at the Jane Phillips hospital in Bartlesville. About four hours later we took him home to our little bunk house on the ranch and couldn't believe it was possible to instantly love someone so much. Looking back now I realize that we took so much for granted -- a healthy baby, a safe delivery, etc. We were thankful back then, but now 21 years later I'm even more thankful. Thankful for that perfect little blond-headed, blue-eyed newborn and thankful for the man he has become.

Looking back now I also realize how clueless we were -- two young, first-time parents. About all we knew to do was to change his diaper, feed him when he was hungry, and hold him when he cried. We did all that and somehow figured out the rest along the way. In many ways it seems like all of that was so long ago and at the same time it seems like time flew by. I do know that there are a lot of good memories in those 21 years and, Lord willing, lots more to come.

Happy 21st birthday, Lincoln! We love you!
